Terracotta Crafts and India

Terracotta, type of pottery, is a clay-based unglazed or glazed earthenware, where the fired body is absorbent. Terracotta is the word generally used for figure made in ceramic, and also for a variety of practical uses including containers, water and waste water pipes, bricks, and surface decoration in building creation. The term is also utilized to refer to the normal, brownish orange color, of most terracotta, which varies significantly.

It is very old arts and crafts. Terracotta crafts produces all over the world from the very old times. Indian states like West Bengal, Chattisgarh etc. also produces this crafts from the ancient times. Indian terracotta arts are famous all over the world.
